Freddy and Linda Bailey: Home Is Where the Heart Is

Linda and Freddy Bailey

Freddy and Linda Bailey are true champions for our mission to help make kids better today and healthier tomorrow.

For Linda and Freddy Bailey, giving back to the community is a way of life, and the decision to leave a gift in their will to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta is a natural extension of their generosity.

Their careers were built on helping others. Freddy spent his 30-year career protecting the innocent as chief investigator for the Dekalb County District Attorney's Office. Linda devoted 30 years to educating the children of Decatur as a schoolteacher.

"Not having any children of our own, living most of our lives in Decatur, and knowing the good work and many benefits Children’s has brought to our community, we wanted to support something local, something worthwhile and (something) that will be here for years to come," Freddy says.

Children’s was the obvious choice and was perfectly aligned with their values and dedication to the community. Together, the Baileys decided to give half of their residual estate for the benefit of the Patient and Family Assistance Fund at Children’s.

In addition to their love of helping those in need, they are also devoted motorcycle enthusiasts. Freddy and Linda first met at a motorcycle shop on Ponce de Leon Avenue in 1973. Three days later, Freddy came to her house on a new Kawasaki Cruiser for their first of many, many rides to come over the next 40 years. Together, they restore bikes and each year make an annual pilgrimage to Daytona Bike Week.

Freddy and Linda are true champions for our mission to help make kids better today and healthier tomorrow. We are honored that they have included Children’s as a significant beneficiary of their estate.
